Austin Wedding Photographer

Austin wedding photographer
I love love. Other than that, here's my approach to photographing weddings: WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALISM. Everyone can pose for the typical portraits but the sentimental moments, fun times, and things that cannot be redone are spontaneous and natural interactions with your friends and loved ones. That's what I capture -- a glance, a barrel laugh, a sweet kiss, a twirl on the dance floor, a flower in your hand, an earring gracefully dancing across your neck,
a crooked bowtie, looking into one another's eyes, your dad catching his breath before he walks you down the aisle, the boys taking shots while the girls are primping before the ceremony!

If you're looking for something different in your Austin wedding photographer or for your engagement portraits, let's talk! I'll get an idea of your personalities and interests and incorporate that into the imagery to create an intimate and natural portrayal of the most important thing of all -- your hearts and unique love. Maybe you're a downtown girl, so let's do engagement portraits with your favorite funky & colorful spots around town as a lively backdrop. Maybe you both love nature, so we can find a beautiful golden field in which to shoot. If you love Texas style - let's shoot in front of a soul food cafe, some vintage airstream trailers, the capitol, or your family ranch!

Although my style is more about wedding documentary, we'll still do the pictures of the wedding party, family, and couple -- as well as any other particular groupings you want. We can go as traditional or as unconventional as you like!

Here's how the technicalities work:
Contact me to discuss rates and ideas.
Book your date as far in advance as possible.
I'll send you a standard contract.
Deposit is required to book the date.

Before your wedding I like to have the day's schedule so that I'll have an idea of how things will flow and can map out where I'll need to be and when.

You can check out wedding photos here.

If I am not available for your date, here are some basic tips for choosing a photographer in Austin. There are many affordable wedding photographers to choose from. First, make sure that your list of Austin photographers suits your style so that you can easily narrow your options to your top wedding photographers and then your most desirable austin wedding photographer. This way, you'll have a backup list of wedding photographers in case your first choice isn't available.

If you need a WEDDING DJ, I confidently recommend Michael Danger. He's a local DJ of about 10 years and a musician of over 20 years. He's also my honey, which makes us the perfect team. Professional and creative, we know how we'd want things so we deliver with a personal touch. Let me know if you're interested in talking about music for your wedding!

A little bit more background on how I used my fine art photography background to enhance my work as an Austin wedding photographer:
Honestly, it took me a while to take an interest in photographing weddings because I didn't want to produce the sort of generic images you often see in cheap wedding photographers. I thought about it and saw no reason why I couldn't still use off-centered compositions and capture real emotions in the same way I produced photo essays about personal experiences. I realized nobody says, "I want my wedding photos to look like what everyone else has". Alternatively, I often hear "I want something that is an expression of who we are. I want something different; I don't want the typical, cheesy stuff". Done!

The satisfaction I feel as an Austin wedding photographer is two-tiered. One, being trusted to share something so special with a couple and their families is an honor. Two, people are often their own worst critics when it comes to seeing photos of themselves so I love being able to create images that people think are beautiful. The camera is my third eye and a combination of skill and heart.
